Care Packages

I have made a decision to update my blog more often. Shorter posts with more updates. I feel like I just ramble on when I only update once a week...or less. So consider this one of many more short posts.

Apparently there are a lot of people in the states that care enough to send me care packages. I really was not expecting all the care packages I have received thus far. My mom's friend from nursing school, Gale, sent me 7 packages full of toiletries and food for everyone in the 90th. Thank you. There were great items in there, and everything will get used.

A woman from Columbia, who I know through Shelly sent me care package with a few things from the Peace Nook (most importantly candy), and I was definitely not expecting that. Then I received a package from an organization called Operation Gratitude, and I have no idea who signed me up for that. It is an organization based in California that sends care packages to soldiers. I have seen quite a few people with them from the 90th and in other units. It was a pretty funny care package and full of lots of random things. Including a Lord of the Rings t-shirt with a picture of Golham (spelling?) on it. Cara and I got a good laugh out of that. I do love Lord of The Rings...but I have no idea why they would put that in a care package.

My Aunt Louise sent me a package that had Graham Crackers in it, and some great peanut butter candy things that I had never had before, but were delicious. They were one of Cara's favorite types of candy, so we went through that package of food pretty quickly.

So thank you for taking the time and effort to put something together for me. I appreciate it so much. If anyone else is planning on sending something I will suggest this. Send food. We love food and it will get used much faster than anything else. At this point there are enough toiletries in theater to last every soldier for at least a year...maybe longer. Which is awesome (because the PX is very limited in their selection) however at this point we all miss the candy and food from back home.

Oh, and Hayley...Pez dispense never went out of style. I always saw myself collecting them someday. Maybe I shouldn't have said that out loud.

  1. What kind of food do you want? I could send Black beans and rice, tortillas, Red potatoes, Fresh sweet corn but don't think it would be too fresh by the time you get it. So post what you would like to have or e-mail us and then sit back and wait for the grocery truck to pull up. Take care and come home soon. Love Uncle Dale
